Antique Finish Fiebing's

Fiebing's antique finish is a product used to create an antique look and add contrast to worked and embossed leather goods. Here's how to use it effectively:

1. **Prepare the leather:** Start with clean, dry leather. If the leather has been dyed or stained, ensure the dye or stain is completely dry and set before applying the antique finish.

2. **Apply Resist (optional)** If there are areas of your leather that you don't want affected by the antique finish, use a fine-tipped brush to apply it.  Fiebing's Pro Resist and allow Pro Resist to dry completely before applying the antique finish.

3. **Apply the antique finish**: Using a clean sponge, cloth, pad, sheep's wool, or brush, apply Fiebing's antique finish evenly to the leather surface. You can apply it in broad strokes for an overall antique effect, or you can focus on specific areas to create depth and highlights.

4. **Work the finish into the leather:** Once applied, use a clean applicator to work the antique finish into the leather. Rub in circular motions or with the grain of the leather to ensure even coverage and to work the finish into cracks or details.

5. **Let it work**: Allow the antique finish to work on the leather surface for a few minutes to 30 minutes. The longer you leave the antique finish to work, the more color it will impart to the leather.

6. **Remove Excess** Polish off any excess antique finish. The goal is to remove any antique finish that is not located in the tooling and stamping crevices.

7. **Repeat the process as desired:** Depending on the level of patina you want, you may need to apply several coats of Fiebing Antique Finish. Allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next.

8. **Sealing**: To protect the antique finish and the leather, you can seal the leather with Fiebing's Resolene This step is particularly important if the leather item is subject to heavy wear or exposure to moisture.
